How I Plan Your Senior Experience: A Port Washington Senior Session

Senior year goes fast. One day you're picking out a homecoming dress, and the next you're packing for college. That's why I plan every senior session with so much care. This is your moment to celebrate who you are right now, and I want you to walk away with portraits that feel like you.

Meet Millie, a Class of 2027 senior at Kewaskum High School. She's sweet as pie and seriously athletic, and she comes from a family where softball and volleyball run deep. We spent the evening on the shores of Lake Michigan in Port Washington, then wrapped up her senior experience the next morning at the Fillmore ball diamond, a field that means more to her family than almost anywhere else.

Millie's great-grandfather, Donath, helped start Fillmore, and her family has played there for generations, including her mom, her uncles, and her grandpa. Both of her parents have coached, from t-ball all the way to rubberball, and her dad even started her softball team, the Aftermath Aces. Ending her session on that diamond was the perfect way to honor where her story began.

Her session is a perfect example of how I guide my seniors from the first planning call to the finished artwork, just like I did for Macy's senior session in West Bend. Here's a look at how it all comes together.

Step 1: We Start With a Planning Call

Before we ever pick up a camera, I want to know you. What do you love? What sport do you play? What's your style? Are there places that mean something to you? Your answers shape the whole session, so your portraits tell your story instead of looking like everyone else's senior pictures. For Millie, those answers kept coming back to two things: her sports and her family.

Step 2: Choosing Your Locations

Multiple locations give your gallery variety and let us show different sides of you. Millie's session started on the Lake Michigan shoreline in Port Washington, with its open water, soft evening light, and sandy beach. The next morning, we finished at the Fillmore ball diamond, where generations of her family have played.

Other favorites my seniors love:

  • My private 70-acre property with wooded paths, a creek, wildflower fields, tall grasses, and vintage trucks
  • A rustic barn surrounded by tall grasses
  • The sand dunes and beach in Sheboygan
  • Daytime city sessions in Cedarburg for a stylish, editorial feel

We'll plan your locations together so each one fits your style and the light is just right.

Step 3: Planning Your Outfits

This is where the fun starts. I help you plan a mix of looks: something casual that feels like everyday you, something dressy that makes you feel stunning, and something that shows off what you love. Along with her outfits, Millie brought her softball and volleyball gear, and we matched each look to a location so her gallery flows from one to the next. Send me your options before your session, and I'll help you narrow them down.

Step 4: Your Sport Highlights

If you play a sport, let's celebrate it! Millie has played softball and volleyball for years. She's been on a club volleyball team since she was 10 and will keep playing in college. Instead of the usual court and dugout shots, we brought both sports to the beach in Port Washington, and those images became some of our favorites from the whole session. Then we finished on the Fillmore diamond, right where her softball story started. Sport photos are often the ones moms love most, because they capture years of practices, games, and hard work.

Step 5: Session Day

You don't need to know how to pose. I'll guide you through every pose and every location, so you can relax, have fun, and be completely yourself. And moms, you get to sit back and watch your daughter shine instead of managing the session. Millie was a dream to work with from the very first photo.

Step 6: Your Finished Artwork

Your senior portraits deserve more than a spot on your phone. We'll design albums and wall art that turn this milestone into something your family can hold and look back on for years to come. For Millie's family, that meant something extra. We pulled her mom in front of the camera for a few mom-and-me portraits. They hadn't had pictures together since Millie was little, and these are going up on the walls at home.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we photograph at more than one location?

Yes! Multiple locations are part of what makes my senior experience different. We'll choose them together during your planning call.

How many outfits should I bring?

Plan a casual look, a dressy look, and one that shows your personality or your sport. I'll help you choose before your session.

Can I include my sport in my senior photos?

Absolutely. Bring your uniform and gear, and we'll capture the part of your story you've worked so hard for. We can even take your sport somewhere unexpected, like the beach.

What if I don't know how to pose?

You don't have to! I guide every pose from start to finish, so you'll never wonder what to do with your hands.

When are your Christmas sessions?

My 2026 Christmas minis are November 1 with my vintage truck at my private outdoor studio in Kewaskum, and November 14 in the Tall Pines, a private location about 15 minutes east of Kewaskum. Each mini is $299 and includes a 20-minute session, three digital images of your choice, and 25 Christmas cards (or two more digitals instead of cards).

Let's Plan Your Senior Experience
