Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to have maternity photos taken?

I recommend booking your maternity photography session during your second trimester to ensure availability. I photograph a limited number of sessions each month to maintain a calm, unhurried experience, so booking in advance is always advisable.

Once your date is secured with a booking retainer, we’ll schedule your session for when your bump is beautifully defined, typically between 28 and 34 weeks of pregnancy.

If you’re already further along, please don’t worry, get in touch, and I’ll always do my best to accommodate you where possible.

When should I book my newborn photography session?

I recommend booking your newborn photography session during pregnancy, ideally in your second trimester, to ensure availability in my Kewaskum, WI studio.

Newborn portraits are best photographed within the first 7–21 days after birth. During this time, babies are naturally sleepy, curled and content, allowing for those soft, timeless newborn images.

Once you share your due date, I’ll reserve a provisional session around 10 days after your estimated arrival. When your baby is born, we simply adjust the date if needed — keeping everything flexible and stress-free.

Newborn sessions take place on weekday mornings, and I photograph just one baby per day. This ensures a calm, unhurried experience with plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles.

do you have a maternity/newborn bundle?

YES! Please fill out the inquiry form HERE and let me know you're hoping to book both sessions.

Do you have a studio and where?

My private home-based studio in Kewaskum, Wisconsin was thoughtfully designed to offer a warm, elevated, and stress-free experience from the moment you arrive. With a private entrance, comfortable waiting area, dedicated client wardrobe room, and full indoor studio, you’ll enjoy a space that feels both welcoming and refined.

Inside the studio, we can create soft lifestyle-inspired imagery, polished editorial portraits, or clean modern looks depending on your vision. Outdoors, the property offers a beautiful natural setting perfect for clients who love timeless images surrounded by nature. You’ll find wooded paths, open fields, tall grasses, wildflowers, creeks, and scenic spaces that are especially beautiful for maternity sessions or warm-weather newborn and family portraits.

Many clients love combining both indoor and outdoor portraits for a beautifully varied gallery.

Located in Kewaskum, my studio is an easy and worthwhile drive from surrounding areas including Milwaukee, Sheboygan, Hartford, Delafield, Fond du Lac, and nearby Southeast Wisconsin communities

What days do you offer maternity photography sessions?

Maternity photography sessions are available Monday to Saturday.

As I photograph a limited number of sessions each week to maintain a calm and personalised experience, Saturday appointments tend to book further in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, I recommend getting in touch early to secure your preferred time.

Do you offer professional hair and makeup?

Yes, professional hair and makeup can be added to your maternity session.

This is carried out by my trusted artist and is designed to enhance your natural features while keeping the overall look soft, elegant and in keeping with the timeless style of your portraits. The aim is never to look overly styled, but simply to help you feel confident and beautifully prepared.

If you would like to include this option, just let me know at the time of booking and I’ll arrange everything for you.

What should we wear for our session?

I offer a small, carefully curated client wardrobe with simple, elegant pieces that photograph beautifully and flatter your shape. I’ll also guide you with a style guide to help choose the best look for your session.

You’re welcome to bring a few outfits of your own as well—anything comfortable, flattering, and true to your style. Soft knits, flowing fabrics, and neutral tones always photograph beautifully. Together, we’ll create a timeless and cohesive look for your session.

Once booked, you’ll receive a detailed preparation guide, and we’ll have a design call beforehand so you feel fully prepared and confident for your session day.

Can my partner or children be included in the session?

Absolutely. Partners and children are very welcome to be part of your maternity session.

Including your loved ones often creates beautifully natural and meaningful portraits that reflect this chapter of your family’s story. I gently guide everyone throughout the session to keep things relaxed and comfortable, especially for younger children.

If you’re bringing little ones, I’m happy to advise on timing to ensure the experience feels calm and enjoyable for everyone.

If you're choosing a BABY ONLY Newborn session, then no siblings or family poses are taken. We will discuss this all on your initial call.

Once your booking is confirmed, we’ll arrange a short consultation and you’ll receive a preparation and styling guide so you feel fully prepared for your session. This also allows us to discuss ideas and allows me to help realise your vision.

What if I don’t feel confident about my body during pregnancy?

This is completely normal, and something many women quietly feel before their maternity session.

My approach to maternity photography is designed to be flattering, gentle and thoughtfully guided. I use natural posing, soft lighting and simple styling to create portraits that feel elegant and refined, without drawing attention to anything you’d rather not highlight.

You don’t need to know how to pose or feel completely confident before you arrive, that’s my job! I’ll guide you carefully throughout the session, so you feel comfortable, supported, and beautifully captured just as you are.

In fact, many of my maternity clients tell me at the end of their session how relaxed and enjoyable the experience felt. The atmosphere is calm and unrushed, allowing you to settle in and trust the process.

And while my aim is always to create beautiful images in-camera, subtle professional retouching is included where needed, gently refining temporary skin concerns or small distractions, while always keeping you looking natural and true to yourself.

Do you offer digitals, albums or prints?

Absolutely. Artwork design is a signature part of the experience and one of the most valuable steps for my clients. During your reveal and ordering appointment, I personally guide you through selecting your favorite images and transforming them into custom heirloom pieces for your home.

Together, we’ll decide which portraits belong displayed on your walls, which images tell the story beautifully in an album, and how each piece can flow seamlessly within your home and lifestyle. Every product includes the matching digital image, allowing you to enjoy both printed artwork and digital convenience.

My approach is centered on quality over quantity. Rather than overwhelming you with hundreds of files, we focus on the portraits that matter most, the ones worthy of being printed, touched, admired daily, and passed down for generations.

You’ll never be handed a gallery and left to figure it out alone. Every detail is thoughtfully guided and every piece is designed with intention so it feels timeless, meaningful, and truly at home in your space.

What makes your photography experience different?

I offer a fully guided, full-service experience from start to finish. From planning and styling to helping you choose artwork for your home, you are never left wondering what to do with your images. My goal is for your photos to live on your walls and in albums, not on a hard drive
