Summer Family Portraits in the Wildflowers: A Family Session Full of Love, Laughter & Connection

There are certain family sessions that remind me exactly why I love what I do.

This beautiful family came to me this summer for updated family portraits, and from the very beginning, their session was filled with the kind of connection that makes photographs feel alive.

We started at my private creek, giving everyone a chance to slow down, snuggle close, and simply enjoy being together. Those first few quiet moments are some of my favorites because they allow the family to settle in and forget about the camera.

Then we made our way into the wildflower field.

And this field was showing off.

It was bursting with summer color, creating the most gorgeous setting for their family portraits. But while the flowers were beautiful, it was the love and playfulness between this family that truly became the heart of their images.

There were dances and twirls.

There was laughter.

Dad twirled his little girl through the flowers, and Mama snuggled her youngest close.

The children played, the parents loved on their babies, and we captured all those little pieces of their family that make this season so incredibly special.

A Portrait Experience Designed Around Their Family

Before their session, we spent time together during their design consultation talking about what Mom envisioned for their portraits.

She had ideas for the images she wanted, the feeling she wanted to capture, and how she wanted to enjoy those photographs in her home.

My job was to take those ideas and help bring them to life.

That is one of my favorite parts of creating a custom family portrait experience.

We aren't simply taking photographs and hoping you love what we create.

We are intentionally planning for the photographs you want and the way you want to remember this season of your family's life.

Because your portraits should feel like your family.

The Moment They Saw Their Images

When Mom and Dad came back for their reveal and ordering appointment, I knew we had created something special.

There were smiles.

There were lots of those sweet little “aww” moments.

And there was that wonderful experience of seeing their family exactly as they are right now.

Together, we went through their portraits and chose the images that meant the most to them.

Then we selected beautiful heirloom products from my studio collection so their favorite photographs wouldn't simply disappear into a digital folder.

Their memories are being created as tangible pieces of artwork they can enjoy every day.

And I cannot wait for them to see the finished pieces.

Their stunning album.

Their beautiful wall portraits.

The photographs that will become part of their home and, someday, part of their family history.

Because these little ones won't stay little.

The wildflowers will fade.

This particular summer will become a memory.

But those photographs?

They will still be there.

Years from now, they'll be able to look back and remember the way Dad twirled his little girl through the flowers.

The way Mama held her baby close.

The sound of everyone laughing.

The feeling of being together in this exact season of life.

That is what an heirloom family portrait is meant to do.

It isn't just a picture of what your family looked like.

It's a reminder of what your family felt like.

And that is something worth preserving for a lifetime.
